Der folk lever til de blir hundre

Oppdatert: 8. jan.

Ikaria, one of the famous "Blue Zones" mentioned in both the Netflix series The Blue Zones and recent documentaries like the one on History Channel, is known for being one of the five places in the world where people live particularly long lives. This Greek island has intrigued researchers due to the longevity and high quality of life of its inhabitants, with many living well into their 90s or even 100s.

The postcard you refer to is from Thermes, a small town near Agios Kirikos on Ikaria, which is also famous for its hot springs. These hot springs, recognized for their healing properties since ancient times, are said to help alleviate various health issues, such as rheumatism and arthritis, and promote general well-being. Many visitors come to Thermes to bathe in the mineral-rich waters and enjoy their therapeutic benefits.

The stories from Thermes and other places on Ikaria are part of the larger narrative about the island’s inhabitants, who live long, healthy lives due to factors like diet, physical activity, a strong sense of community, and perhaps the health-promoting springs.
