In Greece, there is a tradition of protecting oneself against the evil eye, just like here. The picture is from the town of Lagada, located a short distance from Aegiali. It's a lovely hiking trail to get there. For example, you can combine it with a hike to the town of Potamos, which is situated on a steep slope above Aegiali. The path is uphill the entire way, with the final stretch consisting of steps and narrow streets. From the town, there is a fantastic view of the coast below and the sea beyond. From Potamos, the hiking trail continues to Chora. The walk from Potamos to Lagada takes just under an hour. You follow a pleasant path through an olive grove and continue upwards, surrounded by vegetation. The last part of the trail is wide and paved with stones.
Lagada is a small and charming town with shops and tavernas. In the background, you can glimpse Mount Krikellos, the highest mountain on Amorgos. If you're still up for more walking, you can climb all the steps to Holy Trinity Church, which juts out from the cliff above the town and once served as a lookout point from the days when pirates roamed the Aegean Sea.
