Within walking distance from the center of Skopelos town and in a quiet and peaceful corner is the family-owned Pension Soula. It is a favorite among Norwegians, and the same guests return year after year. It started when Gulliver Reiser had the guest house on the travel program in the early 1980s. After Gulliver disappeared, Apollo took over, which still offers accommodation here. At Pension Soula, a delicious Greek breakfast is served under the leafy trees in the garden.
We holidayed at Soula with our children in 1987. In 2019, 32 years later, we returned and found little had changed. But the younger generation had taken over the operation with director Kostas Psathas at the helm. The father, over 80, was still active and grew vegetables in the garden behind the house, and the mother, who is the same age, served the guests now as she did 32 years ago. Every Friday she serves homemade and juicy honey buns.
