The island of Anafi lies by itself in the far south of the Cyclades. The nearest neighboring island is Santorini. The island is barren and barren and mostly consists of mountains with steep cliffs and deep valleys. The ferry port is called Agios Nikolaos. The only real town, Chora, clings to a mountain top two kilometers from the port. Chora is a typical Cycladic town with whitewashed houses and blue doors and window frames. The special thing about the town is that some of the houses have curved roofs, similar to the small chapels you can see around the Greek islands. From the town there is a fantastic view towards the wide open Aegean Sea in the south. The Meltémi wind from the north gets a good hold up here, which gives a pleasant temperature in the warmest period, that is May–September.
